Trading Stories

Derek J. Canyon's Blog on Trading Short Stories is a great idea. It's like the Girls With Guns Anthology but without the Girls With Guns theme. The intent, anyway. A bunch of short stories by a bunch of different authors so there is a sampler out there that people can download and enjoy—and then of course buy stuff from the authors in there.

Maybe someone could start up a free trade forum or something, although that probably already exists.

Normal books—print books—have samples in them, too. I had this idea where, at the end ofMeese, I’d include that short story I wrote for Girls With Guns—since it is kind of a sequel to the book. It would go between Meese and that wonderful book I have on my mind that’s the realsequel to Meese, which I will now call Meese II for simplicity’s sake. It’s a wonderful book. All in my head, of course. Just like most of Meese.

Except, of course, for...

12010 words of it!

The word count meter says I’m 17% done it now, which is nice, except this blog post isn’t about Meese at all. But how could I go one post without a shameless plug for Meese?

Please excuse me. It’s somewhere after 3am.

Go check out Derek J. Canyon’s blog. It’s better than mine. All four of you.

Update

Meese
Novel
New words written: ~700 today. (Been catching up on the other words I wrote for it that I failed to stuff into the processor.)
Stage: Shitty first draft.

8763 / 70000 words. 13% done!

Things done: Filled in a few gaps between the scenes I'd written, typed out scenes I had written on paper, filledin more gaps.

I figured you all wanted an update. Right?

Also, you might notice I lowered the max wordcount to 70 000. That's because I realized that, in a first draft, I am going to have way less words than when its finished. Also, it makes the percentage go up faster, making me look like I wrote more than I did. I am such a sucker for instant gratification.

Another 1237 words and Meese hits 10k words! Yay!

Also, I'm planning something, but I'm not going to tell you about it until I know fo sho that it will go ahead. Just to avoid disappointment, you know. For us both.

*It's all on paper and I'm too lazy to count them. I'm also going to keep it on paper for now because I think it might make me run when I go back to it tonight.

Yay!

Btw- NaNoWriMo's coming up! GONNA DO IT. You should, too.

So I Had A Little Chat With Kitty...

...and it went a little something like this:

Me: So. Kitty. I think you're a little overpowered.
Kitty: NO SUCH THING.
Me: Well. Yeah. But srsly? There isn't a whole lot of exciting stories to tell when you're trouncing everyone at, well, the literal speed of light.
Kitty: All of my conquests are exciting!
Me: So I was thinking about toning down your thunder.
Kitty: >:(((((((((((

Meese
Novel
New words written: 408 (shitty)
Total wordcount: 4312

4312 / 100000 words. 4% done!
Things done: Burned a dude.

Real life things: Midterm Exam on Monday for Human Anatomy. Book Report due October 12th.

I don't think I'm gonna get that short story sampler out for November. :(

Life in Fall

School's picking up. As much as I'd like to, those frequent updates are probably not going to happen. I'll update as much as possible- and I'll shoot for at least once a week.

Meese

New words written: ~500 (shitty)
Total wordcount: 3764

3764 / 100000 words. 4% done!
Things done: Got Meese lost in tunnels. In the dark. With someone chasing her. With a gun.

Update

Project Update, even though it's a very tiny update.

Meese

2394 / 100000 words. 2% done!

Told you it was tiny. Chapter 1 is done in a very rough form. But that's apparently okay because it's a 'shitty first draft.'

I think I will submit a Meese story to the Girls With Guns Anthology - I've reread it, and I don't think it is too spoilerific. I've got a backup short story I'm working on, though. All you Kitty fans... you'll get to find out what happens, finally, between Kitty and Kitten!

Kat and Meese (working title)

2052 / 7000 words. 29% done!

Also got hit with an amazing idea for another story. But, as everyone says, the ideas are the easy part. Writing the story is the hard part.

PS: If any of you devout readers want to read chapter 1- which I promise you isn't all that great right now, just post in comments and we'll work something out. More Kitty bits, like the one in the last post, are coming as well. She gets me in the wee hours of the morn, when I have no where to be and no where to run...

Introduction

Hello, all zero of my readers! It's a lovely, sunny Thursday afternoon and I have nothing better to do than avoid writing and dick around on the internet! None of you know me. I'm just an unknown, unpublished writer who recently shed her 'wannabe' status by actually writing something. Not much. Just enough to tip the scale ever so slightly. Now I get to bore you by listing my projects!

Meese
Junkyard Unicorn
That One With the Stolen Heart
Lost One

(Italicized to look fancier.)

I am currently focusing on Meese, so I'll introduce it a bit. This is an Introduction post, after all.

Meese is a little worried and a lot confused. She's managed to get a record and a job in the same day- but she thinks that her employer, the God of Theatre, only keeps her around for comedic relief. She was about to ask him about that, when something special of his was stolen. A god-item thing. Now she's lost in the very literal criminal underground. Seriously. It's below the regular city. It's only a matter of time before someone finds her, and her winning smile probably won't help this time.

It's a work in progress, but it's progressing. You're all just jealous because I get to watch her trip into trouble before you do. Hah!

I think that's enough for an intro post. Later, loyal fans!

PS: I probably will get off my lazy arse and customize this blog a bit. In the next week or so.
